For Christmas, I just bought my son a pair of HD545 phones for his dorm room. I am in the market for an affordable portable or desk amp that will drive these. He listens to his iPod Nano (or to his laptop), so I know I need to get him an LOD for the best sound quality. Since the HD545's are terminated with a 1/4" plug, I also need a 1/4"-to-mini adaptor cable. I'd like the flexible style (like the Grado or Cardas, or a DIY one).

I'm not looking to spend a small fortune ... and if you have an amp for under $100, let me know!
