A major bug. Anything in a media player that loses or corrupts your files is a major bug.

It should get reported to the developer in their forum over at Hydrogenaudio so it has a chance of being fixed. Probably won't be able to say much about the exact steps leading up to it. Hopefully it will be enough to give the devs a clue on what may have happened. This is certainly not a bug I'd encourage users to go testing for or investigating. Leave that for dedicated devs and testers who have machines that are imaged and test files they can lose.
