Looking for headphones (electronic dance music)

I've finally got money to buy some nice cans. My budget is around 200-250$. It'll be my first ever real headphone purchase, so all help from you audiophiles out there is greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for a good all round headphone primarily for the trance genre, specially vocal trance. I also listen to other electronic dance genres such as house, drum and bass, hardstyle, techno, breakbeat and hardcore. As you can see, I'm looking for some bass-heavy cans (not too bass-heavy tho, I'd like to hear some smooth vocals as well), but a nice punchy bass would be sweet. Preferably, I'd like to not get an ext amp with it, as I've got a pretty strict budget. You'll have to excuse me for lack of knowledge when it comes to sound, haha. Anyways, I'd love to hear some recommendations

Try some Ultrasones, start with the HFI/Pro 550/580 to the Pro-900 maybe you can find some used one.

I'm considering the 580's. However, what about the Ultrasone HFI-2200 ULE S, are these any good for the type of music I'm aiming for? They got them on sale in my country now for 230$.

Electronic dance...some DJ cans will fit the bill nicely. Maybe Sony MDR-V700DJ?

The golden drivers are great. But they will need more burn in.

I tend to find that electronic dance music has very low quality bass, and something like an ultrasone will make that painfully obvious. Perhaps you could consider a DT440 or ATH-M50 instead?

I've been looking into some Beyerdynamic as well. Heard lots of good stuff about the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro, and the reviews seems to agree. So I'm really considering this one. Or the Ultrasone HFI-780? I actually can't find the ATH-M50's in my country, so seems I would need to purchase it from ebay if I'd buy it.

I am listening to electronical music mostly, too. I recommend the Ultrasone HFI 780 or Pro 900 if you can get them used.

The DT770 pro is fairly low quality, but a very fun headphone to listen to. Although it is more forgiving of the bass, I think they have too much bass for dance music.

If you're having trouble deciding between the ultrasones and DT770pro; the ultrasones will sound more refined, but the 770pro will be more comfortable (once you adjust to the clamp) and is generally of a better build quality. Ultrasones are known for being uncomfortable and also having cracking headbands. I dont like the highs on either of them (I find ultrasones to have piercing highs and the DT770pro to have muted highs)

It depends on your priorities.

My exact opinion of these two headphones.

The phones being comfortable is a high priority, as I'll also probably be watching some films with it. Having them on for hours without being bugged is something I see as important. I'm leaning very much so towards the DT770pro. However, you mention that they are of "fairly low quality". Could you say something more about that? Also, about it having a little too much bass for dance music is something I can live it, as long as the bass is of good quality (is it?)
Appreciate your input on this :]

what do you mean by low quality?

I can not agree that they have too much bass.

are you talking from your own experience?

The only thing that a lot of users do not like about the dt770 is their exaggerated frequency response at 10-13k hz. It causes piercing heights with bad quality recordings. a lot of headphones suffer from that problem though.

the dt770 has been around for... I dont know... 20 years? they have character, and a lot of fans at head fi.

they are a good start into the headphone world.
