hi, i have seen mention of ps1k's coming "with" wood box. all i have seen come in the cardboard box. grado seems to sell the box for $75. so is it supposed to be included in the retail price of the ps1k or not?

thanks,

Optional, not included. Don't remember where I read it, but it was one of the dealers here.

i think the wooden box is standard package, so i have bought the psk with it at the same time

well that helps lol. one vote for standard one vote for optional! hmm. maybe the hk dealer put them in the box and charged even more than just the headphones? or maybe they are so expensive there they threw in the box?

i have seen over 10 pairs at dealers in cardboard boxes and not a wood box if you wanted one! well, that is one good looking box! worth $75 imo.

hopefully someone that knows for sure can chime in!

i have now figured that out. i guess some dealers if you are lucky throw in the box. it is not to be expected unless it says it is included as a gift from the dealer.

When the PS-1000 was still a rumor, the rumor had it that - because of the price of the cans, some $700 above the flagship GS-1000 it was replacing - Grado was going to throw in a mahogany box. Whether Grado meant to promise anything of the sort is anybody's guess. What happened, however, was interesting. The orders for the PS-1000 were such that Grado never had to throw in a a box to get people to pay that kind of money for a headphone. The PS-1000 was listed as the finest Grado can ever made. So far, I've only found one poster who has bought the PS-1000 and felt any different about it. Maybe that's why the box is on you.

was that by chance me? i bashed them pretty hard. in all honesty at the risk of sounding like a real jerk i was just furious they lasted a matter of hours. it was broken in when i got it. i don't know why they failed. however they really were pretty darn good while they lasted(i think, i didn't hear them too long). meanwhile i grew to like the dt880 in their absence. just a guess would be the grados are probably better cans. i do take back a lot of what i say because opinions change. in all fairness like i said i was mostly steamed that $1,700 headphones didn't last me a day. i did mention that as my biggest dislike of them though. when i get them back hopefully i will think they are amongst the high end headphones of the world.

meanwhile.... i guess i could order that handsome box!
