ER4's, I will look into that

Any other recommendations?

have you considered IEMs with active noise cancellation? Even though most of the ones I ever tried sounded very bad, they really do isolate pretty well especially if you use the right foam or fanges, there must be some audiophile active noise cancellation IEMs out there.

sennheiser pxc 350/450
sony mdr nc60
JVCHANC250
Bose QC2 ( yuk, but great suppression )
Phillips SHN9500

Your pick of in ear buds will suffice, all are about the same unless you can get them custom fit to your ear for maximum suppression

For IEM's, I believe SE530's will keep roughly the same sound signature from IE7 and improve on it. And with Olives or triple/double flanges, they're one of the best in terms of isolation for sure. For extreme noise cancelling Ety's or Shures are the way to go in terms of IEM's but since you want bass Etys are out of the question.

Full size wise, I'm not sure, perhaps something like a DT770.

Etys are wonderful headphones with serious isolation, but I really doubt that even with a re-cable and the right tips they will provide the kind of BIG BASS that you desire.

x2 on DT770 80 ohm for good isolation and bass. But they might not sound their best without amplification.

Etymotic hf5 (or ER4) + industrial earmuffs (what are they really called?) over them. You get the internal blocking of both the IEM and the external blockage as well.

There are also Vic Firth headphones for drummers.

As far as I can tell, having tried Ety, Ultimate Ears, and Shure... Ety isolates the best.

GMP 8.35, or the HFI-550/580
