Greetings,
Currently I'm thinking of selling my Stax setup and want to know if there would be any demand pre or post repair. One day one of the drivers stopped working due to a hole in the mylar, causing the diaphragm to be loose enough to stick to a stator.
Currently I've completely disassembled them and removed all mylar except the dust cover on one since it appears to still be in good condition. To fix them you would need to have mylar, a way of holding it taught, a conductive coating material, good adhesive, and a solder iron for one joint (two if one decides to replace the dustcover on the other driver for posterity).
I imagine this would be a good project to someone with more time wanting to modify a set of stats for better performance, learn more about them, or something to those ends.
Other notes:
The pads seem to be in good condition.
The white might have a slight yellow tinge due to discoloration over time. I don't really notice it myself.
The adjustment joints have a small crack on each side in the exact same spot, and seems to be caused by a manufacturing flaw. Currently it's not effecting anything, but would be simple to fix if it acts up.
The SRD-7 is normal bias, has only minor cosmetic flaws, and works perfectly.
I don't have a specific price quite yet as I'm not sure of the demand for this in its current condition.
I'll also consider potentially interesting trades.
Feel free to PM me questions and offers.
Pictures will be posted here in the future if there's enough interest. Thanks
