The answer to your question is two posts up.  It's the only way to be sure you are buying the real deal.

Also is it normal for someone to list at £189.99 then put 'I will accept £150 on a special transaction', is this because of avoiding fees?

I would but the price is just too much, I know they're good but to be honest they're still just headphones at the end of the day biggrin.gif

Then you've made your choice. I use to think like this as well but after experiencing how good these things are (the IE80s are better though), I've never looked back. I think you should just talk with an authorized dealer and haggle them down on the price. I'm sure you can get them for around $300.00 or a bit less as other have (especially for the IE8).

Yeah its a good call, maybe if I try them out somewhere, is there such thing as IE80i? as in with mic and controls? I will be mainly using with my iphone so would be good to have.

Hello, I just recieved my IE8's today and although they seem real thus far, I was just wondering something. Now, I don't know what to expect, but are they supposed to be extremely light weight and have a very..plastically feeling? Like, when I put them down on the desk it sounds very.. light/thin plastic.. is this normal? I just thought they would sound like harder plastic, and heavier.

They are very light, no worries.

Thanks a lot. These are my first IEM's and I wouldn't say that I am all that experienced with headphones. But I have listened to music my whole life. I have about 2 hours on them and by what they say, they get better as time goes on.. I'm going to be very satisfied. If these are fake.. I must be deaf. lol. I've never experienced this 'soundstage' type of sound before. Hearing each sound as itself rather than all together.. it's really impressive. I listen to all genres and so far each one sounds great. A good example that I tested was Adele - Set Fire to the Rain and it gave me shivers down my back. Can't believe what I've been missing out all these years! And since I had to rush out I didn't even get to test the other ear tips.. so I bet I don't even have that great of a seal yet. 0_0.

Sorry, blogging over here. lol. Thanks again.

Hi sorry to mix in and not sure how will appear! I have bought a pair of ie8s cheapish but not suspiciously so - the first pair were quickly bust and I asked for a refund got a replacement (from far east - not a good sign) what I want to know is where on the ie8 are the serial numbers - I have now got two pairs with identical number on the outside of the box (I suspect that it is easier to forge the box than the headphones) wondered if the numbers should be different - tried contacting Sennheiser not impressed with the response. Many thanks in advance

Only buy from an authorized dealer. There are way too many fakes out there to take a risk. The cheapest I got my IE8s for was $265 and that wasn't from an authorized dealer. They were real and the seller acquired them from an authorized dealer but lost the receipt. If the deal is too good to be true it is.

Agree that now - too late? Just trying to find out about the serial number to nail down the people who sold them!  I didn't think they were that cheap - got a perfectly OK pair of Ultimate Ears for similar price same similar spec a week later!  Live and Learn but would like to do it cheaper by getting my money back - have  not opened the replacement box!  Thanks anyway - Brett

How long ago did you order them and was this through ebay? You may be able to open up a case and get your money back. Its worth a shot.

Not through ebay missed the paypal deadline whilst trying to sort out didn't realise it was so tight!  Am in the UK may succeed but wanted to ensure they were fake can't find a way of doing it with out opening the box tbh the original ones sounded pretty good to me!  I could go on but was just looking to get info - I think its easier to fake the phones than the box so I suspect the fact that both boxes have identical numbers on them may be important but no-one (including sennheiser will tell me where the serial number is) could go on but we will both lose the will to live - it's no tragedy just a mishap!! Many thanks.  Brett

Brett,

I agree. One big clue is IF the storage box has a magnetic latch in the bottom rear of the sliding drawer. There should be a metallic silver plate INSIDE the back of the outer case. There should be a subtle 'click' when the drawer closes. The magnetic latch is usually omitted on counterfeit IE-8's and IE-80's.

Can you provide us with some photos of the Sennheiser logo on the buds and the connectors of the cable?
