BEST closed headphones? - Page 2

I must agree with the D5000 and D7000.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

I would say the HD25-1 II

If you really want a headphone that actually isolates from outside sound, then it's the Beyer DT770/600. If that isn't too big a deal, then the Denon D5000/7000, JVC DX1000, and Ultrasone Ed8 would be the short list of headphones you can actually buy.

I really don't think anything could possibly beat the Sony R10's in this area. While I wasn't thrilled with their sound when I heard them last, they are closed headphones, and that's very hard to do.

True, but the R10's are made of unobtanium

They pop up on the FS forum every now and a again! Pretty sure I've seen more R10s for sale than I have Qualias.

Of course, $4,000 - $6,000 isn't something most of us like spending!

In my opinion the Stax 4070. But never heard the MDR-R10, ATH-L3000, ...

Let's not make things complicated: Ultrasone Edition 8. I have heard no better.

Oh yea, forgot the Sony R10...
Never had the chance to hear the ED8, but from my ED9 experiences, these cans should be very good.

For tonality I prefer the Edition 9 to the Edition 8, for soundstage and clarity it's the Edition 8. An Edition 8 without the omnipresent mid-bass boom would indeed be very good.

So far, Pro 900 is the best that I have heard. I haven't had much experience with listening, but so far I am very impressed. And I haven't even fully burnt them in yet.

its time to drag up an old thread for me.

is there anything now to wipe the floor with my d7000s for similar price?

What about w1000, t70, d5000, and pro900

What are the best among them?

Similar price

Depends on the type of music you like.
