Attention! Black uDac is out of stock. That is all.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Ordered one..I couldn't resist.

And that's because of the Sabre DAC. Don't know why NuForce hidden the chip in the first place If it was another chip on it... +99$ in my pocket. (Yes I know it is ES9022 but it is still a Sabre :P)

When's the next re-stock?

I've got a somewhat off topic question. I am using the ATH-M50 headphones straight from my onboard sound(realtek ALC888). What kind of improvement would I see by using the UDAC? Or should I say, How much improvement? Would it be a bigger improvement to buy better headphones ($200 range)?
Thanks

Mine is still rubbing, but it's a minor problem that I can live with.

Thanks.

How would this compare to a XtremeMusic?

Question to jasonl, headphoneaddict or whoever knows... Does the udac automatically upsample? What pc settings make them sing best? Questions in my head while I wait for my uDac to arrive

A gentle pull on the volume knob eliminates the rubbing. FYI

The most immediate differences will be in separation, smoother treble, tighter bass and blacker background. The M50 is pretty decent already so getting a uDAC for now will make most sense.

I don't think so. CMIIW, upsampling requires a dedicated unsampling circuitry with the necessary IC.

Ok so 16/44 setting on the device driver for best sound I guess

I got a black uDac last Thursday. It's being paired with a Highfiman EF2 via RCA. I'm loving the combo, but I had to scale back the volume on the uDac. Has anyone else felt that they got optimal sound with the volume at less than 100%? I've got mine set at about 70%. At full volume it seemed like there was a minute amount of grainy distortion in the mid to upper treble ranges.

Maybe because the ef2 doesnt like too much input voltage??? Im not sure why It would have more distortion at full volume when its not supposedly an active gain stage

Now if they'd update the icon mobile with uDAC tech... I'd buy that in a heartbeat (well, maybe two heartbeats).
