Where should I upgrade my system??

Thread Starter
Hi guys,

I'm currently running the following off my PC, I mainly listen to FLAC or HQ MP3 on Foobar.

M-Audio Transit USB (digital optical output), [soon to be Empirical Audio Off-Ramp Turbo 2] >
Chord DAC64 >
Millet Hybrid headphone amp >
Sennheiser HD650 headphones.

Any thoughts on where the weakest link is and what part I could upgrade to significantly improve the SQ of my system.

Thanks!

I'd say headphones, as they make the biggest difference by far.

Your source and amp actually look excellent, so I'd say headphones. Have you heard the Grado sound? They synergize quite well with hybrids, so I think that would be a good next step. Drop the $200 for SR225i. They sound so good you'll slap your momma.

Uh, the Senn's you have are excellent phones. Stick with them. I think your making the next upgrade moving to the Empirical. Wait till it's hooked up then see how it all sounds. Make sure all the Foobar sound settings are correct and your output is asio or similar.

I think we just found Grados' new tagline.

If i may ask a question about the M-audio transit, is there any bennefit using it instead of usb directly to my dac? my dac is already upsamples everything to 24/192 anyway...so i just wondered if the conversion of the usb to optical has some other benefits.

Are you dissatisfied with your current setup? Nothing in the OP indicated what you have isn't awesome?
