Hi I need a new headphones with very good bass. I love listening to hiphop and trance and my budget is $200 below. I'm not using an amp on this. Some people suggested that I should get the Sony MDR-XB500 they told me they're good on bass. is that true? Please reply ASAP!

Welcome.

What sound card or other equipment will you be plugging these headphones into?

I suggest searching Head-Fi for "XB500" for comments on it.

As a lover of dance music, I can say that I am fully satisfied with the bass they provide. I demo'd all 3 models and found the 500 to be the sweet spot for quanity and quality of bass. I also found the bass to not overrun the mids or highs, but I listen on flat eq's. Also search the forums as they're a few posts on these hp's and finally they are UBER comfy. I wore them for 6 hours today while listening to 4 full mixes and playing batman aa and I barely knew they were there.

It's hard to beat the bass on a Sony V6 - $69 at Fry's. They're also efficient enough to operate without an amp.

If you go the new XB### route, you'd probably be better off with the XB700's.

I have the ATH m50s and they provide a very nice, punchy, great sounding bass. I absolutely love them, and think they blow away any of the XBxxx's
