ebay transaction problem. Need help, please.

Hey there,

Well yesterday I saw on ebay a Zune HD for a good price. It was marked as discounted and I spoke to the seller for shipment and everything.

Everything seemed fine. I pressed "buy it now", payed via PayPal and went to sleep. This norning I receive a message from the seller saying that there was a $30 missing because it was a problem with the price. He told m to "kindly ask for a refund" or send $30 more. I told him to give me back my money, but I think that that goes against some policy on ebay, doesn't it?

What should I do? Is there a way for me to get the product at the price I payed. If not what is more recommended? I will leave bad feedback to that seller, but I just wanted to get that product.

What the hell is wrong with this seller? He just changed all prices, increased prices on shipping as well?? I can post the seller if you want to see. He has a pretty good feedback, but he is screwing up with this...

This is exactly how he answered:

Quote:
Sorry my friend, we cannot ship this item to you because there was an error in the price. We will be short of $30 if we ship this to you. So, kindly ask for a refund.

Regardless, if you want to pay the additional $30, will ship.

Sorry for the inconvenience. It was our mistake. I hope you will understand.

Thank you,
And yeah, I am pretty pissed off right now...

Get over yourself, get a refund and move on with your life.

Yeah, I will have to wait for him to send me the refund. After that I need to find a good seller that will send me the product, the price is not extremely inflated and when shipping is willing to mark it as gift and/or put a lower price when shipping.

Damn customs. Nowadays they are making more money than usual...

I would assume the seller is responsible for putting the correct price up, and should take the hit if he/she fail to do so.
Hence I would stand my ground asking for the item to be sent my way. As you paid the asking price, and it does not sound like there should be obvious that the price was not right. Then contact eBay if needed.

...or wait for the seller to refund you the money and leave appropriate negative feedback.

I would just request the refund and try to find another for a good price. Personally, it doesn't seem like it would be worth the trouble and potential issues it can cause you with your money that the seller already has.

I agree with krmathis, just like you commit to buying the item when you press "buy it now" so does the seller when he puts the item for sale.
How different is it from me buying an item and then sending a message to the seller saying "hey look, if I buy this for the asking price, I'll be short of $30".

I would contact eBay first to ensure that the seller has the obligation to ship the item for the listed price.
And if so, I would demand that the item be shipped.

On the ohter hand, like intoflatlines said, it might not be worth the trouble, since he already has your money. I guess it depends on how good of a deal it was

Very few of the big chains or stores honor price mistakes if an item hasn't shipped (Best Buy, Circuit City, many many online retailers).

I definitely wouldn't try convincing someone to do that on eBay. Do get your refund.

Thanks for the help. I also thought that when I pressed "buy now" and when I sent the money, the contract was done, and breaking the contract was a "no-no". Even so I don't have time to get into a dispute or into anything like that. In the end I asked him to give me the money back.

Now I hope I get the refund fast so that I can place the order from another seller. I don't like the idea of him having my money all the time if I start a dispute.

I have a final question. I have the vote thing left, and I am thinking of leaving a negative feedback. However is he allowed to leave me a bad feedback (as a buyer), even if it was completely and without a doubt his fault? I proceeded perfectly, asking questions prior to buying, sending payment fast... Don't want my 100% feedback to lower due to some mistake of a guy..

When it comes to ebay, "pretty good" feedback is not good enough. If you get your refund be happy you escaped a deal with someone like this.

Go neutral. State that the seller did not wish to honor the buy-it-now due to a price mistake. That seems fair and should do the trick.

i want to say this with Some certainty that at some point ebay changed policy that the seller cannot leave the buyer negative feedback, this was 2007/2008 ish. I do remember reading that, but if you put a gun to my head i wouldnt be able to guarantee it. try to see if you can find that on google or ebay forum.

and if that's the case, you should def leave neg feedback. and i do think he is obligated to send it to you. i remember this happening to me, but it was on a HONDA ACCORD that i won auction style. the guy asked for my number and told me his brother drove it off the road (yeah right) and that there was internal damage (yeah right) and when i asked for pictures he said they were internal and would not show through pictures (yeah right). I left him negative feedback and that was about it.

oh yeah, now i remember. okay after going through that whole story in my head, i remember, and now i can say

i'm 100% sure that the seller cannot leave buyer negative feedback anymore.
you can goto my ebay feedbacks, look on the second page under Seller: hotschmott
you can see that they left me a bad reply but had to give a pos score.

good luck.

btw could you tell us all what was the total price you bought it for? its hard (for everyone) to really understand what your talking about when you just say he wants $30 on top. on top of what?
