Yay thank god my headphones are not dead!

Hello everybody,

I feel the need to vent it out of my system and express my relief.

The story is that my HD595's developed a small crackle to the left channel when listening to very low bass, but it was fine before. So I suspected that I might have hurt them somehow.

I already started plotting about tightening my belt to buy new headphones this month. To my relief when I opened the phones (removed the pads etc) I discovered that the villain was a small hair which had found its way on to the driver, when I got it out everything started to sound nice again

Thank god for the audiophile grade gear which can be opened quite easily to preform such small trivial but very important fixes.

Also I should think about cutting my hair once in a while - NO this is absolutely out of the question, NEVER!

Thank you,

I am not going to buy new cans this month but I have a list. First im going to buy an AMP then Im gonna buy a DAC - maybe and after that Im gonna update my headphone collection with either HD650's or DT880's or possibly 990's Have not decided yet.

All good choices. Have you considered the AKG K701/2's as well?

Here's that review thread on the Carat Emerald w/ pics.

Nice to hear that it was such a easy fix.

Hate to break it to you but your headphones are non-living

Non-living. Isn't that the same as undead? So zombie headphones that eat you starting from your ears?

Right, shave your head. It is the only solution!!!!

Also don't forget to take before and after pics.

Nice graphic! I would think the Head-Fi type should have the hair shaved around the ears too, since that's what many times causes buzzing/rattle for me anyway.

LOL You have a point there. It gets itchy from time to time too.
