Sabre32 24/192 Asynch USB DAC!

W4S DAC-1 (DAC1) - DAC's - WYRED 4 SOUND

I have confirmed with Wyred 4 Sound that this Sabre32 DAC *will* have 24bit/192kHz capable asynchronous USB input, based on their proprietary protocol.

It will also have I2S input, using HDMI connector with same pinout as PS Audio PerfectWave transport/DAC. At $1199 ($1499 with 24/192 USB), it looks to be a great bargain in the world of Sabre32 with discrete output stage (Is there any?)..

Reportedly shooting for release date of January 2010.

I sure hope they cross all the T's and dot all i's with the digital design and analogue output, hopefully leading to great sound quality.

a pic would have been nice!
on w4s site i mean.

It has great potential technologically, I don't play much 192 kHz but asynchronous is interesting. Definitely worth to keep an eye on.

I'll be interested when someone makes a dual-mono Sabre32 with dual power supplies.

I just hope all the supporting components are up to scratch. The chip ain’t worth spitting at unless it’s well implemented. For the price it’s cheap...

Interesting. Subscribed.

We'll see. Chipses are but one part of the equation.

Looks interesting I wonder how it compares to the Audio-gd reference 1

Has anyone compared a maxed out Twisted Pear Sabre 32 to the audio-gd reference 1?

DAC-1 availability update

EJ Sarmento at Wyred 4 Sound told me today (in email) that he is working through some issues with the DAC. They plan to be in production in mid February and shipping shortly thereafter. They're keeping a list of people waiting for the DAC to send out emails as soon as it's available. They have a backlog that will apparently get first opportunity to purchase.
