Does anyone still use a portable CD player?

Well, like the title says, does anyone still use their portable CD player? I'm asking because I do and I want to know if I'm alone here. I have an iPod and a Fuze but I still prefer the sound of my CD players over those mp3 players. One of my CD players is the Optimus CD-3440 (not CD-3400). Based on Radioshack website, its specs are: 16-bit Dual D/A, 4 times oversampling, 25mW output per channel, and of course a line-out, no digital output though. Its headphone output is pretty powerful compared to my other Discman/CD players. I'm not here to write a review. I just wanted to know if anyone here is a portable CD player user. And if you are, state which PCDP you have.

Yes, I do. On my lawn with my iBasso D10 using the optical out. The player is a Sony, NC something. I got it about six or seven years ago, just before digital went all out.

My wife wanted to borrow it recently. Horrified, I said no. It is apparently irreplaceable. I've looked for them without luck. It has an optical line out.

Absolutely, a Sony D-NE920 optical out to an iBasso D10. Goes with me on all business journeys and get set up in the hotel room. I also have two D-EJ1000 as backup but prefer the controls and on unit display on the D-NE920.

I like PCDP also. I have high end panasonics and sony's. I got carried away on ebay and bought a whole heap of them. I always thought the sound quality from mp3 players was inferior but that's starting to change.

I sadly do not have any high quality cd players, if I did, however, I would use it.

I have 1 , a Panasonic SL-S260C portable player with a lineout , bought brand new on ebay , still can''t believe it . Sounds great too . I will never give it up as long as I live . In a lot of ways , I like it better than my DAP's , but I know in the future , that will change , I believe DAPs will get better .

I use a Sony D-2, circa 1989, with my 22 year old Bose Roommate II speakers, it makes a great portable system.

I have an old all-metal Sony Discman, D555, with an optical out! TOSLink to a moodlab DAC, then to a Head-Direct EF1. This is a fab system, my "upstairs" rig. Listen with HD600s or HF-2s usually. I have posted the pix before, but here it is again:

The Sony portable CDP sits nicely on top of the DAC.

(I don't use the GS1000s with it anymore, not the DIP upsampler)

I use a Sony FX930 portable DVD player in the office which I use to play music CDs mostly. These days I can't be bothered to spend the time ripping all my CDs to the iPod. It has an optical line out and is great paired with an HD595.

No, got the 555 off eBay. There was a thread here (can't find it anymore) on which old Sony's to buy, the 555 was one of the top choices, so I just kept scanning eBay 'til one came up, then bid wildly. Can't recall what I paid, but it was not super-cheap.

Still one of the most satisfying purchases I ever made ... works great, form factor is perfect!
