Bit perfect through HDMI from my laptop???

Hi
I have HP HDX 16 laptop with Vista 64-bit with HDMI output. Is it possible using Foobar+WASAPI plugin to get totally bit perfect signal to my receiver without using any additional sound cards?

Hook it up to your reciever and pop a DVD in,if your reciever lights up DD/DTS etc then you are bit perfect.

I wouldn't use a DVD. Many sound cards can play DD/DTS tracks on DVDs no problem, even if they resample, because on a DVD the track is 48khz. I would use a DTS WAV file at 44.1khz. That way you know it doesn't just resample everything to 48khz.

Also, by playing it in Foobar, you can verify that Foobar in particular is bit-perfect.

There are a couple of them here: Free 5.1 Surround Sound DTS and AC-3 Downloads They're zipped, so just unzip one and try it out. Make sure to have the volume way down, because if they're not decoded as DTS by the receiver, there will be loud noise.

Try without wasapi, but first ascertain if you can get any audio to your avr.
