Great opening question Barleyguy! Since I have both the OK 1 & 2, the responses are very interesting.
FWIW, I tend to consider my OK1 and my EX700LP in the same general category for SQ - decent instrument separation, sense of space and detail (elements important to me). That's out of my DA10 or HR DT Millett Hybrid. The OK1's remind me of my K702's - not quite as spacious and detailed, but close even on large orchestral works.
Out of my MP3 I go with the OK2's when I don't need the isolation of the EX700's. In doing so, I don't feel that I'm giving up much.
I only played with the IEM configuration of the OK's briefly and enough to find them quite uncomforatable. In fact, I find the foam covers from Radio Shack to be essential when using them as buds.
