What about those "Old" Zunes made 2 years ago?

By the way how did mp3 players come to have less space but became more expensive? Is it due to touchscreens?
Back then they primarily used hard drives. Players in 2^x GB sizes (8,16,32,64 GB) are most likely flash memory, with the higher capacities being pretty expensive. Hard drives don't come in those odd sizes, and are typically much bigger in capacity.

If you're still using your iRiver's hard drive, you can CompactFlash-mod it... and it'll be (hopefully) good as new.
