Why would you? Think about it. Sennheiser would be foolish to honor the warranty when you chose not to purchase from an authorized seller.

So apparently there are fake ie8s out there, but nobody has seen it.

If you find a good deal from non-authorized dealer, then Sennheiser would not honor the warranty and regard it as a fake, since you didn't pay full price for it?

I checked Sennheiser website, and I couldn't find SoundEarphones.com in their authorized dealer list. Should I not buy from them?

Boy, I don't know if I want anything from Sennheiser...

Are you really that dense? No one ever mentioned paying full price for it. Try actually reading the thread next time.

Yes I did read the whole thread.

No, clearly you did not. That is one example. You just took a sample size of 1 and used it to generalize about the whole set of authorized dealers. Does that sound like a logical thing to do to you?

Not only that but junior also doesn't do so well with numbers. $379 is NOT full price for IE8s.

I stopped responding to people who think their number of posts equals respect long ago.

Who's not seeing the whole picture here? This is getting ridiculous.

I dont know but I think whether or not we buy from authorized dealer, if it is genuine, it is still there product and warranty for us unless they show us that they are not genuine.

We would all want only to purchase a genuine product because we want to honor the work of the original manufacturer. But we are still buyer which means we all want to get the cheapest price as possible for that for that product. If somehow , Sennheiser somehow help us to identify the genuine from the fake then I believe that all the premium saler will reduce the price since they have someone to compete with their price (and same that peace in mind that the we customer buy an genuine product). But I guess they wont cuz authorizd dealer is partner of Senn and they both want to make profit

I found an authorised dealer (linked to from sennheiser uk's list of authorised dealers) in the UK that ships globally:
Welcome to AskDirect - HD Ready LCD & Plasma TVs, Notebook Computers, Digital Cameras

they sell the IE8 for 170 pounds

they'll give you a quote on shipping to your country etc after checkout
I'm quite certain these wouldn't be fakes.

Just to be clear, I did not demand respect. And if I did, I would have demanded it on basis of apparently better statistical knowledge, not post count.

Also, the big picture is as follows:
To stay in business, Senn needs to make a profit
You need Senn in business to buy their IEMs
you want to buy their IEMs, thus you want them in business, thus you need them to make profit.

Since you need them to make a profit, you should at the very least accept that authorized dealers are an important part in their profit making model. You need them to have authorized dealers. I can provide a logical proof of this if you so desire.

PS I do not necessarily agree with them denying coverage on real products. However, I fully understand their reasoning and that it is how they and many others operate as a business aimed at profit making and not selling their products as cheaply as possible. Especially since they are technically in the luxury market with the IE8.

Imagine Sennheiser's thinking. Sennheiser is saying, in essence, "You want a warranty? Buy from retailers we authorize. Buy product we don't know, from retailers we don't know, we won't guarantee it, and we'll be damned of we replace street-corner knockoffs with genuine product."

No manufacturer, of any kind, would guarantee product procured through unauthorized channels, because such products often are, if not knockoffs, stolen, QC failures, or old stock. You want to do all in your power to deter customers from buying such products, and voiding warranties is a start.

The authorized dealer list is a big, "Genuine Product Here" sign. Want to ignore it? Then you're on your own, and rightly so.

Correct. Not sure why some people are having such a hard time figuring that out.
