A sincere question (not trolling) - Page 6

We'll see about that...

XLR interconnects are typically sold individually, not as a 4 conductor cable with wire pairs coming off each end. Don't see why headphone cables aren't done like that for balanced setups, except for the convenience of complainers who want one single headphone cable. In the very least, it can't hurt to do things that way. In fact, this design is sort of catching on, as I see that the new SAA Endorphin headphone cables are two separate cables twisted together, and very possibly shielded, then they join up at the 1/4" plug. Just have to take one more step - add XLR plugs, and unwind.

Sure. But we're talking about headphone cables.

Also, interconnects are typically used ahead of gain stages, sometimes very high gain stages such as phono preamps where whatever crosstalk there may be due to reactive coupling will be amplified possibly to the point of being audible.

No, it can't hurt. But if there's no issue with regard to crosstalk, then I can't see it as being anything more than a solution in search of a problem.

What on earth does any of this have to do with the topic?
