Headphones for Hip Hop music

post #1 of 4
Thread Starter
Greetings good people!

Can you please give me an advice.

I'm buying headphones (150$ max) for listening mostly to hip hop music. (a lot of beats and eletronic production). I will use the headphones with Asus essence audio card. I was told that this card is OK.

Any suggestions?

Many many thanks.

Best regards;

Tom

Ultrasone 780 could be the solution! Search the threads ......

Much as i like, or liked (i sold them) the HFI-780's the Ultrasone DJ1's are more fun. I would say the DJ1's are closer to the 680,'s but with higher sensitivity it alleviates the need for a serious headphone amp. Ultrasone's tend to need a bit of a helping hand!

For $150, try the Audio Technica M50, hard hitting bass and very prominent highs too. Otherwise try M-Audio Q40 if you want more forward mids. Both of these drive fine unamped from pretty much any source.
