Samsung Q1 disappointed

Thread Starter
I recently bought the Samsung Q1 DAP from TJ Hughes for £30. After listening to it though I feel rather disappointed with the SQ of the DAP. What got me interested in the Samsung was the DNSe 3.0 effect eq. However even when selecting DNSe and playing about with the EQ I still cannot get a sound that I like. I find the sound very cold and the bass very deep but lifeless and harsh. Some of the reverb effects are nice when listening to music without drums and percussion but on the whole I am very disappointed.

IMHO my Sony X1060 has far superior sound and the Clear Bass function is a million miles better than the bass function on the Samsung Q1. The bass on my Sony creates more life into the music where the Samsung bass fails to achieve. Tested using the same phones I use with my Sony X1060.

Nothing surprising here. Effects are usually gimmicks, and after all, the X1060 is Sony's flagship player, and costs 3 or 4 times as much as the Q1.
