my quip was that, based on Zanth's comment that some wine lovers will put real dirt in their mouths, perhaps these folks also put old socks in their mouths

of course plenty wines have this flavor - that wasnt the point

I don't want to imply I eat dirt. I have witnessed the event myself and there is a pretty famous web oenophile who grew up eating all sorts of things before he could actually drink. Vanderchuck I believe is how it is spelled. He has a very fun video cast that has been going on for years. He even did a show where he took some crisp sweet whites and paired them with cereal

No, I understood your point. My (unclear) point was that I don't like lots of Bordeaux. I'm going to eat some socks now.
