I guess the main way to connect a Clip or Fuze to a car stereo is via headphone out. How much loss of SQ do you get by using headphone out rather than LOD? I have only found one LOD for a Fuze and it is pretty pricey.

The headphone outs on both are pretty clean and good to amp out of or hook up to the aux in of a car stereo. I sometimes do both myself with both my Clip and Fuze. The LOD for the Fuze is nice but not necessary. To me there is a slight audible difference, but is that slight difference worth the cash is up to you. I could have been happy without it but I am happy I have it.
Sorry if I may have confused you.

Thanks for the feedback. I have used an iPod with a LOD, but not a Sansa.

there are plenty of people that can diy a fuze LOD for you or i'm sure there are a couple on the fs/ft forums.
but i'd agree with raqemup, there's not a huge difference (unless you're plugging into an amp, imo)
