portable amp for reo and Iphone

Hey Everyone,

I am pretty new to this whole IEM's, but i am now hooked. I picked up a pair of v-modas and just ordered the REO's for 79.

Now my question is this. I like my v-modas for the bass and am fully aware that the REO's are lacking in the bass dept. I have read that if the REO's are amped properly, that it would help with the bass. So which amp would work well with the reo's and an Iphone. I would like to keep the whole setup as portable as possilbe.

I am pretty new and have been doing alot of research but there are some terms that i dont understand and cant figure out what they are. For example: Dac?? So if you recommend something with a DAC please explain.

Thanks in advance for helping a newbie. Just want to get the best possible sound out of the REO's that i can. Now i know i should just listen to them before i go out and amp them, as some people say that they dont need an amp. I will listen to them after burn in before purchasing an amp, but I would like to get some suggestions just in case i feel the same way that everyone else does about the REO's bass.

this stuff gets addicting very fast!!!!

ibasso matches pretty well with the RE0, take a look at the T3 or T4 (both no dac), if you can wait the E7 (has a dac), nuforce mobile icon (dac) for $100 range.

DAC function is to amp out of your computer. If you're only using the amp for portable use only with your iPhone, you don't need the DAC enabled amp.

iBasso T3 or T4 are great but cost $100+. You will also want a LOD (Line Out Dock) for connecting the amp to the rectangle out dock on the bottom of the iPhone.

If you want to get an idea of what an amp will do for you at a low cost; get a Fiio E1 ($22). It has the amp integrated with the LOD. I don't think there is another amp that has the LOD built with the amp. It is the most portable amp setup for the i(POD/Phone/Touch) and sound pretty good. Not as good as iBasso but well worth the cost.

I was not sure but i think that i had read that the E1 really didnt do much to the REO's? I am gonna look into the t3 and t4. Which one of these will give the reos more bass?

I only know of one portable DAC + amp solution for iPod and iPhone (yes, using an external DAC as well, like the Wadia i170(?) solution). That is the ALO upcoming addon pack for their Rx amp, but it will be expensive.

I can't speak to the T3 but it doesn't have a bass boost. Others have said the T3 doesn't need a bass boost. I do have the T4 and used the bass boost with the RE0. It sounds good for some tunes. I turn the boost off for other tunes. Its kind of nice to have the option.

If you do go the T route, you will also need a LOD.
