I realize the 4th gen Nano has very slightly better sound specs than the 5th, but it isn't much cheaper than the 5th and lacks the pedometer and radio.
So, I'm thinking the U5 or the 5th gen nano. The 8GB Nano costs twice as much and for a little more over even that I can get the 16GB one.
I'll be using the Etymotic ER4S, which is an easy 100ohm load. I presume both will have the voltage to run it loud enough for me.
They both have an FM radio. I've heard the Nano has slightly better reception. I don't care about video cameras or video playback.
While I would probably be using the headphone jack, does the U5 allow a line-out dongle if I want to go the amp route?
I realize at low impedences, the new iPods excel. Is the nano going to be sonically worth double into a 100ohm load using the included jack? Or will separation, THD, and noise be about the same?
Anyone done Rightmark RMAA on both or either into higher impedences, like 100ohm or even line level type?
