Notebook Battery + Charger ?

Thread Starter
I bought a new Dell notebook in June 2008. In June 2009, the power supply stopped working..... 10 days out of warranty. I bought a new one on ebay non-OEM. From June of 2009 until November of 2009, everything was working normally. The battery would not hold a charge. I bought a new one non-OEM on ebay. The second battery would not hold a charge so I sent it back (waiting for a refund). I bought a third battery non-OEM and higher priced then the second battery. The third battery will not hold a charge.

My questions are:
Could I have had three bad batteries in a row?
Could the second power supply stopped putting out the required power to charge a battery?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank You....Rick

A laptop make/model might help. Also, do you have separate charge/ac power lights? If so, is the charging light on when you're on ac power or is it just the ac power light?

Dell Vostro 1400. AC Power light on. Battery charging light on. I swapped power supplies with my wife's Dell 600m. They are interchangeable. The battery seems to be taking a charge as I write this.

Yes, if the charging light is on the charging circuit itself is less likely to be at fault.

I have had bad experiences with non-OEM chargers and batteries. They fail very quickly from what I've seen..

I say go OEM.

Eh, I'm running non-oem chargers and a non-oem battery on three different machines with no issues (so far). Definitely takes some luck though.
