NASA: Large quantity of water found on the moon

Found out after realizing Google has changed their logo. The first thing came to my mind was "HOLY ****!"

So they intentionally crashed a rocket in a crater near south pole of the moon and found 25+ gallon of water...amazing!

Now, when can we expect an allien invasion??

no, make the moon our last standing

The moon remains drier than any desert on Earth, but the water is said to exist on the moon in very small quantities. One ton of the top layer of the lunar surface would hold about 32 ounces of water, researchers said.
....

Finding water on the moon would be a boon to possible future lunar bases, acting as a potential source of drinking water and fuel.
LOL! There is barely any water on the Moon and we already thinking about drinking it. Bottled lunar water FTW!

This is a great discovery. I'd love to see a permanent moon base. Lunar tourism would be even better.

Great discovery indeed!
Perhaps mankind then will return to the moon in the not too distant future.

Wow! Awesome find!

Very cool stuff, possibilities are amazing. Just need to find more of the stuff.

The report took a long time after the crash, and does anyone remember that the ejecta plume which was supposed to tell the tale, DID NOT HAPPEN? I'm calling BS on this "discovery." Water, either liquid or solid, would have evaporated/sublimated aeons ago.

they probably knew this twenty years ago

Why is this a big deal.. Regular, tourism type space travel won't be here for another 100 yrs or so.. Sounds exciting on paper, but really not much.. NASA is grasping at straws here, & never fully recovered from the space shuttle disaster in 1986..

I prefer mars..

While I believe that this is an interesting discovery, the thought of space tourism and moon bases is awful. We are doing a great job of polluting our own planet and using up natural resources recklessly, why take our practices to places that are absolutely pristine? Perhaps we can fix our own backyard before we trash another? If not, we have no business being elsewhere.

I would love to go see the moon firsthand, but I do not want to go bad enough that it ends up marring the surface.

It's already marred, and badly too. Pollution of dead planets is irrelevant.

Boring! The Pinksters already made the call.

If you play "The Great Gig..." from the (remastered, 200gm) LP of DSOTM backwards--using a ZYX Universe Silver cartridge, JMW 12.6 arm, mounted on a VPI TNT HRX table--you'll hear David Gilmour whispering the precise coordinates of where water can be found on the moon...oh yeah...he's also heard saying, "Paul is dead!"

I was referring to the inevitable human pollution produced by cosmic tourism and moon bases.

As insane as it might sound to some, the moon is not ours to pollute. We are visitors, and we should treat it like we would expect from visitor in our own home: leave it like you found it.
