The OP should read the official FLAC FAQ on tagging. Really FLAC only has the "commenting" system. ID3 tags (which are used on MP3 files) are usually not supported by most devices and as such, both the D2 and the S9 have some issues decoding FLAC files that have ID3 tags.

Others have already mentioned MediaMonkey and MP3Tag which are the most prevalent and easiest to use tagging programs out there but are used on MP3 files usually.
This is not true. mp3tag can tag most types of audio files. It's not just designed for mp3s despite its name.

I have used it extensively with flac and mp3, always with perfect results.

Tag & Rename is really really good. It's payware but totally worth its price IMO.

I used to work with Tag & Rename too, I even paid for the license (it's that good ;-)), however nowadays I switched to Mp3Tag... Defined me some actions, and now it's a one-stop shop for all my tagging and renaming needs for both my mp3 and lossless files...
