I own one of these and think it sounds fantastic. It bested the Apogee Rosetta, Lavry DA10, Stello DA220, Monarchy NM24, and others I've had before that.
The only thing I don't like about this unit is the sound of the balanced(allegedly) output. It's just doesn't sound right to me. It's kind of thin and bright sounding. The single ended outputs, both tube and SS, both sound really great. Highly recommended!

thats just shifted the goal posts again.

had email from monarchy offering roughly same deal.
$1018 + $150 shipping roughly £700 + customs fee
i estimated customs to be about £130. making total of £830

had also been considering the cheaper option of a meier stagedac at £530,
plus a whole host of others including the xindaks.
as you can tell, i am getting knowhere fast

I have owned both the M24 and the NM24, of which I thought the M24 sounded better.

I think the Xindak betters both of them, not a night and day difference mind you, but better. It's been a few years since owning a Monarchy so take this with a grain of salt. From what I remember the Xindak had better detail and better soundstaging. I think the bass was a bitter tighter too.

The Xindak DAC-9 looks good. It seems like they improved the USB input, which is a welcome advancement. It also looks like they completely re-did the chassis to match there other pieces. Interesting! I think I actually like the looks of the DAC-8 more.
