Gotta replace Shure E4 in-ears .. which one to get next?

Hello head-fi, it's been a while.
Ever since I bought my Shure E4, I haven't really felt the need to check for upgrades or similar - they cured my upgraditis.
And now they're broke
Heavy use over the years apparantly damaged the cable, and now the right channel's got a short - it crackles and cuts out when I move.
I called the Shure service and they said, they couldn't repair it. Damn. They were so expensive, I could only buy them cause I thought "Heck, they'll last 10 years!"
Soooo ...
Now I'm looking for in-ears with similar qualities - similar fit, similar sound signature, less pricey if possible.

Any suggestions? :|

thanks,
-taurui

I think they will "repair" them for $109. Just so you know.

If a product is returned damaged, or cannot be serviced economically due to obsolescence, Shure may, at our option, return the product as received, or offer to replace the product at a higher replacement cost.

Maybe it's different in europe - I called a guy at the Shure tech department and he said, they wouldn't repair cable damages. There are no replacement parts available or whatever...
he offered to "replace" it with a SE420 für 135Euro + shipping though.

Sounds about right. How much are the SE420's going for there?

Seriously, other than SE530, the price-performance of other Shure IEMs are not great at all.

I auditioned both Shure SE210 (costs SGD$240) and Nuforce NE-7M (SGD$89, or SGD$69 for NE6 without microphone) before, and the cheaper NE-7M got my nod.

Did you audition the 420's as well? Some guy on amazon said that they're pretty close to the SE530.
Would the Klipsch ones be an option for me?

Frankly, I don't think the E4 are worth repairing for $109+shipping costs. From memory (I haven't had them for a while) the Klipsch S4 will sound a little better for less dough.

I just ordered the RE0's. From what I heard, they'll be very close to the E4. And for 61 Euro shipped, there's not much competition
