Which device am I hearing?

I connect my headphone to the Cowon S9, press play. My understanding is
I am hearing the Cowon's DAC + OPAMP at work. Well, now when I use the
Cowon in conjunction with a RSA Tomahawk, what am I hearing from ?

1. Line out- should be the Tomahawk

2. HP out- ?????

HP out->Tomahawk->headphones out is really both.

So you mean I hear the sound of the S9's amp and Tomahawk's amp?
