I find it kind of entertaining to see the same bands mentioned several times, I have no idea why... I just do

It's as if some don't bother to read through a thread, isn't it? Who would do such a thing!

Be Your Own Pet
YouTube - Be Your Own Pet - Fuuuuuun: Live at Lollapalooza 2006 (bad sound quality, good performance)

And I would be remiss if I did not mention the annoying, but oddly compelling Pomplamoose
YouTube - Single Ladies - Beyonce (video is not Beyonce)

Are those HD280 Pros?

More indie than RAWK, but many Broken Social Scene songs have female vocals, as do the New Pornographers (coincidentally both Canadian "supergroups").

I'm not sure, but I had a similar reaction in noticing the headphones first.

Made Out of Babies - Noise and post-rock thrown into a blender, with awesome results. Julie Christmas sounds like she's about to go off the rails at times, her manic delivery is nothing short of exhilarating. She also sings for Battle of Mice, worth checking out as well.

Kylesa - Psychedelic sludge rock. They utilize two drummers and three vocalists in a unique manner that really adds to the atmospheric vibe.

WOW lots of recommendations here but I am suprised no one has mentioned the two most bad ass female vocalists on the planet (if you like metal or rock)

The Agonist - "Alissa White-Gluz"

Arch Enemy - "Angela Gossow"

The Distillers.

One of my favorite female vocalists: Alison Mosshart of The Kills/The Dead Weather
Also give Shiny toy Guns a try, and Mates of State, these all have mixed vocals though.

In This Moment

In This Moment.

Great female fronted rock band...the first major release "Beautiful Tragedy" is a bit heavier with more screaming-type vocals mixed with singing, but the second disc "The Dream" (linked below) changes directions a bit, and is extremely melodic with hardly any screaming.

Good band, good voice; I highly recommend. This is the special edition with some extra material:
