I've just been reading about the new Windows 7, and I'm not seeing any new stuff I actually want. Faster search? It takes about 5 seconds to find all 6 instances of the word "firestarter" for me. New start menu and taskbar? This sounds good, but do I really want to change my operating system for that alone? My start menu is pretty streamlined already, everything grouped into folders... There was something about home networking, but I didn't pay attention, there are only two people that use my computer (one of them is me) so we use the same account.
There was so many more changes whose only purpose, it seemed, was to reduce the number of clicks! Jump Lists reduces the number of clicks to open files and websites to two! It takes me three to open websites and four to open files. Before now I've never actually counted my mouse clicks, Microsoft are really reaching if they've started counting clicks. But maybe this is all that's left to upgrade, the very last possible fine-tuning of an OS, however minor...
There's also features which sound like (don't bite me please) a waste of time. Shake a window to hide all the others? Is this show desktop + keep one window open? Nevertheless, if I really wanted this, I could download Aero Shake for XP.
I don't know, all this little stuff doesn't seem like it needs a whole new OS. There's that Snap window thing, which immediately caught my eye. So I downloaded AeroSnap for XP...
Somebody sell me on Windows 7!
