Hi Rdr. Seraphim,
If you don't mind, can I get a PM regarding the optional 24/192 USB?
Thanks

Hi,
Can you send me a PM about how (and for how much) one can upgrade the Wyred DAC1 to an synchrobnous SB version? Thanks!!!
Maciek
^ You can always shoot EJ (W4S) an email about it. IIRC, he charges $300ish to install Async USB input.
Has anyone compared the Wyred DAC (1 or 2) with PS Audio Perfectwave DAC? I recently compared PWD with Simaudio Moon 300D and BelCanto 1.5 and the difference was clear that PWD output had more details, etc. MSRP on PWD was $3K ($2K w/ special offer) and $1.5K on other DACs. Given Wyred is at $1K - 1.5K, I wonder if Wyred will be in the Moon 300D league. (for clarification, I don't judge quality based on price but sound alone. However, for an average audiophile consumer, it's difficult to tell the difference without a a/b test. And in stores, DAC quality seem to improves dramatically from $500 ->$1500 -> $300 then $5K+)
Wyred DAC review sounds promising. Pls let me know if anyone has compared the PWD to Wyred.
There was a review of the Audio-GD Ref 5 that compared it to the PS PWD and W4S DAC-1, and included some impressions on those two:
"[June 6, 2010] I had two full hours to compare PS Audio PerfectWave DAC with Wyred 4 Sound DAC-1. I had little time to compare PerfectWave with RE5 because my friend was so eager to try out W4S DAC-1. My friend and I were quite surprised with the results, the PerfectWave did not sound any better than my W4S DAC-1. For a $3k DAC, it should outperform DAC-1 but it did not. He is definately getting the W4S DAC-1 or DAC-2 which has more selection of digital inputs, volume control feature, beefier power supply, and a hi-res async USB input. The RE5 performed favorably if compared with the PerfectWave, but I need more time to analyze their sound quality differences."
"[June 8, 2010] I’ve been comparing RE5 with DAC-1 side by side, DAC-1 presents a little more micro details but the RE5 tonal balance and timbre are superior.
[June 21, 2010] Well, not quite what I expected, the only area that the W4S DAC-1 excels is there is a little more micro details. The RE5 trounces the DAC-1 by a large margin in other areas. Dynamics, pace, rhythm, timing, soundstage are phenomenal with RE5. The presence is also very impressive and if I close my eyes, it feels like the musician is right in the room with me. RE5 is a very organic sounding DAC. DAC-1 on the other hand, sounds thin, uninvolving, and the worst part is there is sibilance issue. I’m not ditching the DAC-1, DAC-1 has become my back-up DAC. I could have happily settled with DAC-1 if I didn’t already own RE5. " class="wp-smiley" src="http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" /> It will be hard too to find a good sigma-delta DAC that is able to fare well against the DAC-1."
6moons is out with a review of the DAC1 and along with praises also highlighted that "If anything the W4S DAC sounded very digital", anyone echo that ?
Read it. Maybe they understand themselves...

I wonder if this implementation fixes the strange timbre I heard in the Buffalo II?
