Anyone heard the release date of the Wyred for Sound Dac?

Any word yet on the release of the new Cullen Dac? Some specs at the sight (new Sabre chip etc.). www.wyred4sound.com

Here's keeping my fingers crossed that their "discrete output stage" is decent and that their "USB input" is decent, though unlikely asynchronous.

You know the (discrete) output is a NPN pair with notch and switching distortion. 1 resistor and 1 snubber cap. But it would be ripe for a mod, and be looked at in that light!

EJ from from Wyred for Sound says February (possibly earlier). Probably have the same "family styling" of case work I imagine. Not pretty but functional! I really like the STS buffered Pre-amp, that and the ST500 run the Maggie's effectively.

W4S DAC nears?

Pix and preorders now here . . . any news on an exact release date?

I spoke to Rick last week and he said was still "working on a couple of things". He did not have a firm release date, but still mentioned March, so I would guess late March is a better bet than earlier. In the meantime, his Level 4 mods in the DLIII are terrific -- I am looking forward to a concurrently comparison of this and his W4S DAC-1 in my main system.

No longer DAC1 (only)

There's lot of positive buzz about Rick's modded DLIIIs online . . . I guess they must be pretty confident about the new DAC being even better to launch it alongside their current $1-1.5K models. Apparently, it's no longer just called the DAC1: the DAC2 and 3 come with extras:

They're saying early April delivery.

I've had this on my radar too. Looks promising.

I am ordering DAC 2. with ST500 poweramp and ST250 to biamp my speakers. Dac 2 has a remote volume control. I have ordered it to have 2 pairs xlr outputs and a second output stage one to drive each power amp

There is a DAC 1, 2, 3 Wyred 4 Sound Sabre DACs has some details

I wish he would come up with a nice ladder (R-2R) DAC. I'd bet he would make a nice one, too! Once you go ladder, you'll never go back to sigma-delta.

Huh?

I wish they would make up their mind: just two versions now: DAC1 pitched at a cheaper price, and DAC2 with all the goodies:
Wyred 4 Sound DACs

Yeah, true.

I caught another error. In the description of their DAC-2, it says "I2S balanced input using an HDMI cable". But there is no HDMI input. How could there be anyway? I2S transmission has been done different ways by different companies which virtually makes it impossible to use one company's transport with another company's DAC. It also says 2x optical input and 2x coaxial input. No there aren't. There is just one of each. And they show the rear of the DAC-2 on both the DAC-1 and DAC-2 pages. And they have both DACs' descriptions reading the same.

Also, the DAC-2 page comes up as DAC-1 in the browser window tab.

Is it just me or it looks really ugly

Hopefully it sounds better than it looks (both exterior and interior)
