Best Amp for Zune HD

I am completely clueless when it come's to amps.

I own a Zune HD and use the Audio-Technica ATH-M50's.

Yes these phones are easy to drive, but I'm sure they will benefit from a small, inexpensive amp.

I was lurking around and am interested in the FiiO E5's. (Probably cause I'm ignorant and uninformed).

Which amp do you think will benefit my set up the most?

As I stated, this is simply an entry level amp I'm looking for just to kinda get my foot in the door. Let's go with a budget of no more than $50.

I think you've answered your own question.

yeah the only other option is a PA2V2 but it's a bit more than 50. Word to the wise or the sign of the front door of head-fi. "Sorry about your wallet" It won't stop with the Fiio so you might as well save your 20 toward another amp!

The ZuneHD itself has pretty good headphone out. I don't think it would benefit from an additional amp, especially ones <100$.

Like I told you in PM's, I agree with Lil'Knight. The goal shouldn't be to get new gear, it should be to get the best sounding music possible. I barley hear sound improvement from my Pico+Zune HD, so I actually only use it hooked up to my computer.

Ok fair enough. Let's get some suggestions though. Let's change the budget to under or around $150.

In this range I would go for an iBasso T3. I considered that one and then went for the D2+ Boa which is on it's way. See what I mean by it's kind of neverending!? Next on my list is a LD MKIII.....

Others to consider are:
Total Airhead
Meier Audio
iBasso

Just google and you find their websites and then come back and use the search button to find reviews and comparisons to decide which works best for you. Chances are someone with your set of cans already has one or more of them. Good luck!

Thanks to everyone who replied.

I think I'm gonna go with the E5 and PA2v2 (just so I can compare them for myself).

Actually I'm not so sure anymore. I'm really interested in BOTH the PA2v2 and the iBasso T3.

Anyone have any comparisons between these two please?

I've never owned the PA2V2, but I almost bought one. I can't recall, but somewhere on head fi I read that it's a nice little amp, but basically it's just a bass booster and lacks any real treble. The T3 on the other hand sounds better all across the spectrum.

I have a Fiio E5 and I love that little thing. I would go with an E5 over a PA2V2 anyday...

found this for you. It's a mini user review thread for the T3

i personally use my zunehd + mini^3 + M5's and i think it makes a difference.

the mini^3 in my pic cost me just under $50, however you must build it yourself. that excludes the casing/faceplates/battery.

a CMOY on ebay costs a little bit less, but you cant beat the 3ch active ground topology, a built-in charger/regulated powersupply, at this price.
