I pre-ordered the Squeezebox Touch. Can someone advise me a good power supply to replace the stock one?
Thank you!

) I would highly recommend you not go that route. Way too pricey! If you are connecting the Squeezbox to an external DAC you will see little to no benefit from a PSU upgrade and only minor benefit if using the analog outs.|
Heh well I agree that the price for Bolder's is pretty silly...over 1.5x the price of the product? err...but aside from that I wonder if there's anything 'bad' about it.
I was looking at the Wellborn units for an easy DIY project not long ago, they aren't badly priced for what they contain parts-wise. As for making a difference, even the digital output circuits get their juice from the PSU. |

I did some inquiries; the Touch has a different plug and appearantly another voltage then the Squeezebox Touch, according to mails I received from a local dealer that already has a touch and according to an email I got from dusty from CI Audio.
Dusty also adviced: "Also, we do not know what type will be included with the Touch. If it is a linear type, I wouldn't bother with an upgrade." Sounds very sensible to me. |
I have just ordered a SB Touch to replace my one year old SB3 and will be using the Welborne Labs SB PSU previously owned.
DIY one of your own?
Welbourne and Kingrex make PSUs for the SB series.
I sold my Classic and have a Touch now; frankly, at the moment I regret it; the Classic had a big friendly musical sound, the Touch is tighter and more upfront. It might be more accurate, but I enjoy it less. However, if you still use the Havana the combination might be more synergetic.
BTW, I use the Squeezepak PS (from Russ Andrews, far too expensive, but I had it laying around). Strangely, when using the supplied PS, my USB-powered HD does not work, but with the Squeezepak it does.
Haven't had the time yet to experiment, but at the Slimserver forums the consensus seems to be that changing the Touch PS does not give audible benifits, contrary to the Classic.
Contrary to what I said above, the PS of both machines are interchangable.

Thanks for the input. I shall make the comparison once the Touch is home.
