i cannot install firefox [first thing ive tried] on windows 7,

comes up in a box with 'run as' in the title and says

'you may not have the necessary permissions... '
then asks to instal as administrator, asking for a password, or as me

im stuck!

When you install Software, you have to be installing from an Administrator account.

yes i am set as the administrator, i checked that before, but that does seem to be the issue

Right click on the file, "Run As Administrator"

If it's asking for a password, then your account doesn't have admin credentials. Did you log out/in after setting your account to an Administrator?

yes the computer has been fully restarted a few times

ie never had to put 'run as admin' in vista or xp for a program installation before

Are you the super-secret top-level Administrator, or just the regular admin account?

I installed firefox on a regular admin account just fine.
