He told me he was from Canada, and even gave me an address. He also took pictures of the device turned on with my name next to it, so it sounded legit.

I was about to enter in my bank account info to Paypal, because CC transactions weren't going through. I'm glad it was caught before even more people sent him payment (seems he was selling 1 player to a bunch of people).

Another strange thing was that he, supposedly being at least 2 hrs ahead of me, responded to emails I sent at from midnight to 4 am (being the procrastinating college student I am), which struck me as odd.

MadDog, if you need any extra documents regarding the conflicting info he sent to other buyers, let me know and I can forward you the thread of emails we sent. Hope it works out well.

Thanks a lot for your willingness to help here. yeah, I may need your help if Paypal requests additional evidences.

We really need to crack down on this type of dishonest people making a living scamming off other people's hard earned money!

Yeah, I don't think even a post count thing could solve it. Scammers can find ways to do what they want, regardless of security measures. I would have been in your situation had I figured out how to do it, so I feel for you.

I guess it makes you appreciate the smooth transactions between trusted head-fiers, if nothing else!

Thank god I decided I am waiting for more 64gb players to come out into the market or I would have "bought" it as well.

I just arrived back home here in Hong Kong last night and finally have a chance to post my story (to elaborate later since I have to go to work now).

I too will be more than willing to give up my correspondence with him/her too.

The fund's finally returned to my paypal account. The refund was easier for me because I filed a claim before the thief withdrew his paypal balance - which usually happens within 3~4 days of my sending the fund.
