Which wire for diyMod?

I apologize if this has been asked before, I tried searching but came up with nothing. I'm planning on diyModding my iPod Video 5G, and wondering which wire I should use. I haven't been into hi-fi long enough to have an opinion on whether copper/silver etc. makes a difference in sound, but I definitely do believe that poor quality wire can create problems. And since this mod is permanent, unlike say an LOD, I'd like not to regret my choices later. Any advice would be appreciated

Currently all I have is some basic copper(I think) solid core from DigiKey that I got for my CMoy. I don't remember the gauge. I'm on a budget, but price isn't too much of a factor within reason, given that I'm hoping to keep using this iPod for years to come.
A vendor that ships to Canada at a reasonable price would be ideal.

Also, should I be careful about which solder I use? Which type is recommended?

Thank you all,
dRummie

Id use 28-30 guage from john

eBay Store – John's Silver Teflon Wire Shop: Search results for.

When your working with wire small enough to go in you ipod the last thing you want it is melting. As for solder id say any 63/37 stuff would be good. Im partial to multicore solder myself.

I myself used Mundorf teflon silver/gold 24AWG wire, and it's marginally fit.

Thanks for the advice.
The Mundorf wire (even the silver, not the silver/gold) is orders of magnitude more expensive than the silver wire from the ebay seller. Am I missing something or is there some difference in quality?

It might have something to do with it being solid silver containing gold and not SPC like the stuff on ebay.

Also it is a respected brand which will give a bit of a bump in the base price.

Funnily enough I’ve just read another post regarding the Mundorf teflon silver/gold 24AWG wire. Although it’s not in relation to an imod, Pricklely Peete was very happy with the sonic results.

Here’s the post:

^I wonder that myself a little, but my understanding is it is a debate not likely to be resolved soon.

I'm probably going with the Mundorf then, since it seems to be liked, and I can't see myself using up 50' of wire...

be careful with the mundorf, its very close to being too big, you really have to plan out the routing if you are going to use it if you want the case to close properly
