New ibasso Audio D10 Cobra

Thread Starter
Just got my D10 cobra, took 3 days for them to deliver from overseas, I was pretty happy with that,

Plugged the optical cable from my creative sound card into the D10 and from there output it to my Denon AH-D1001 headphones, will try the Klipsch X-10's and my bosses Phonak's soon,

First Impressions (on the Denon)
bass, not overpowering, or too punchy, resonates at a practical and sensible level with lower frequencies boasting depth, but the beauty of this dac/amp manages to separate the bass from the treble in a way, this in turn enables the clarity and quality of DAC/AMP combo to really shine through.

Treble is immaculate,
everything is clear, and succinct, higher frequency tones are not overshadowed by the low frequency bass.

This is truly a wonderful dac/amp
clarity is brilliant.

Melody in classical music is sensational. Id now say that this is truly a universal dac/amp that will play most songs at a standard acceptable by many at Head-Fi as 1st class audio, with brilliant quality.

This is my first DAC/AMP and first review for audio equipment so apologies if my review is not up to standards. Please feel free to tell me your thoughts.

Alex

Nice to hear that you are enjoying your new gear. How would you rate the D10 Vs Creative Sound Card with your ears? Cheers...

I agree with your assessment though I heard predator is even better than this

Depending on which recommendations you are willing to accept:

- the P-51 is 'better' than the Predator
- the ALO Rx is 'better' than the P-51
etc etc

I cant confirm any of the above, but I'm happy for the OP. The D10 is consistently recommended here - the OP likes his and that is what matters.

It is...

It is all subjective...some like ultrasone, some like grado, some like sennheiser...it is all about what "kind" of sound you like

Congratulations!
The D10 is a really nice little DAC/Amp indeed. 3 day shipping time is excellent as well...

op-amp rolling is supposed to make quite a fair bit of difference. I'm waiting for my topkit from HiFlight and I will be testing it out. Though the kit will be specifically for my IE8s =) But a lot of users have given positive reviews over the changes which were supposedly significant.

op-amp rolling really is a great plus to the D10. I just bought a D10 with one of hiflights opamp kits in it and also tested out the stock opamps for a couple of hours and I must say, HiFlight's topkit really improves the overall sound in my opinion.

The sound is more laid back, with more balanced treble and bass.
