Ok so, being a big fan of hers I picked up her new album "balm in Gilead" this week and was just listening to it today.
The first two tracks are fairly typical Rickie Lee, jazz inflected pop, but song three, "remember me" is a straight on country weeper, fiddles and "darlins" and all.
She actually pulls it off but it was definitely as surprise.
Of course Rickie Lee does sound like a county music name.....
