Hy guys!

I'm a bit confused about choosing my first headphones and I found these three to compete:

Audio Technica ATH M50 $90 !!!
Shure SRH840 <$150
Denon D1001

I'd use them unamped with a Cowon S9 (pretty good source as I know)
I need a good allrounder (Rock, Pop, Jazz, Metal .... truly everyting)
Mainly for home use

Update 11-13

Finally I decided to go with the M50 for $90+shipping
I think I'll buy them with coiled cable cos I dont wanna wait for another 3 weeks to get the straight version (out of stock ).....

M50s do not need an amp and sound great with high bitrate music- most of my stuff is ripped to 320 or higher. I listen to rock, jazz, blues, trance and classical- all sound really good through these phones.

Yes I've heard that they are pretty good, but the other 2 are also good...
Just cant decide...
NEW Audio Technica ATH-M50s Headphones AT ATH-M50 s M50 - eBay (item 270459999672 end time Nov-21-09 08:36:53 PST) I've seen these on ebay and as I know they accept $90 (+$34 shipping to Hungary) if you make an offer..... So at that price I think its realy great, isnt it?

I have the Shure SRH440's and they are fantastic and reading many reviews the Shure 840's are even better so the 840's will get my vote. But the 840's are also in a different price league to the other two.

Insufficient information. Do you want it to be portable?

m50 is probably my favourite of those for an 'allrounder'.
If you are using it portable, have you considered canalphones?
ER4P or RE0 being a prime example

I mainly want to use them at home.
I've got a Senn CX95 canalphone for travelling

If it's for home use,go for the 840,very good for it's price and for a closed design. My sony portable player does a good job driving them, and they are very good out of my headphone amp, too.

Unfortunatelly the Shures are out of the question right now cos i cannot find any which can be shipped to Europe, and if it could it would be over my budget with the additional shippment and the customs +30%.....

Is there a big difference between them and the M50s?
