Nuforce uDAC shipping in 2+ weeks

uDAC is a very small USB DAC, USB to SPDIF, and headphone amp (1/3 size of Icon, draws power from USB cable to PC).

The DAC is slightly better than Icon or Icon Mobile. Headphone amp is about the same as Icon Mobile.

uDAC could be a good pairing with Icon Amp (also shipping in 2 weeks).

Actually, I think the DAC in the new uDAC is much better than the one in the Icon or Icon Mobile. The extra depth, richness and detail is noticeable, and compares to $200 and even $300+ DACs. And, because of the high quality built-in DAC I think the headphone out of the uDAC sounds a bit better than the Icon Mobile (even if the circuit is similar). It's not too forward, not too bright, and not bass-lite but just right.

Hey, if you're implying that the pilot production is somehow tweaked to get good feedback, that's not the case. We will only make things better, not worst

This is true sometimes, but I have a pre-production and the Dec 14th production version and it did get better by eliminating the hiss with Westone IEM (all the others in my review were quiet). There is no change in sound signature, detail, or other areas, so I did not get a ringer to review. They probably could have stopped improving the product sooner, as the saying goes "If it aint broke, don't fix it". But they are perfectionists at Nuforce, and I saw improvements in the UF-30 from pre-production to final production as well.

Do which features do you mean by "anything else like this"?

1) Small?
2) Inexpensive?
3) USB bus powered
4) With an amp built-in?
5) With separate line out?
6) with S/PDIF out?
