I guess I'll buy the kanens for myself. Just one thing though. I've seen them at houseofdap.com for 5$ more than they are at focalprice. But I heard if you order from focalprice they might come broken or they might not come at all. Where should I get them?
I haven't had any problems with focalprice except slow shipping but i doubt houseofdap is any better. Kanen's packaging is pretty solid so I wouldn't expect the contents to get damaged.

Ok I'll order them from focalprice but you owe me a pair of CK10s if they arrive broken =D

well recently I been looking at budget iem's being the pl30 and pl50 since i need a better phone for my use. I need an iem that I can use at home when im on my bed before falling asleep on my netbook and it's annoying using the ck10 right now (I need to get more iem's basically).

Since I know that our sound pref are similar what do you think is a better buy..the PL30 or PL50. I got $22 and $55 as prices

Any interest in reviewing the heavyweight IEM's? I know you've already done head-fi a great contribution by doing this chart. I know it's expensive but it would be awesome to see all the higher end top IEM's on there too.

Well, the PL50 is definitely the superior earphone in terms of clarity, detail, separation etc. They are also more comfortable for laying on your side as they are astonishingly flat. I didn't like the stock tips much so if you have some Sony Hybrids laying around they will be far more tolerable.

That said I personally prefer the presentation of the PL30 though it is technically inferior. The PL30 has a sense of air that the PL50 lacks. It is also a good bit cheaper and just as comfortable for regular wear. Plus my set has held up for well over a year of abuse (they have been my main 'disposable' IEMs for most of the year).

Yes, expense is the biggest issue as I would certainly like to test all of the high-end IEMs. I do have the TF10s and plan to add them at some point. There will also be another ~$200 IEM added in the near future. But mostly there are a lot more budget IEMs in the works. I have fun playing around with them and the hit to my wallet isn't too great on average.

And also I am really running out of room . I cannot add to the first post anymore and the second post only has room for about 15 more earphones. I will either be splitting this review into separate budget and mid/high-range IEM review threads (less than ideal as budget IEMs sometimes hit well into mid-range territory) or migrating to a new thread with a whole lot more reserve posts on the front page.

The real question is who wouldn't want to try out the top iem's :P

You could always just put the reviews here or another thread and then link it in your 2nd post

I kinda wanna see how the koss ke29 stack up against the marshmallow and the meelectronics in the 15-30 range :P

I don't need amazing sound quality then as long as it doesnt sound like garbage. I'll probably end up with the PL30 but I have a feeling I'll eventually have the PL50 as well lol I do need a couple of spare iem's since I only have 1 iem atm

I think it would be beneficial to keep the thread on one page, especially for those who come here from outside of head-fi. Hopefully I will have time next week to go through the whole thing and restructure it for a new thread. I might even have this thread locked to avoid confusion.

Hint taken . I have already added them to my 'pick up when bored list' but perhaps they are worth an even closer look.

Ah, the opposite of what I need to do then. I have more IEMs than there are... days in a month? I don't know, I haven't done a headcount in a while. Probably close.

how much is the pro gold now? no more $200 deal?
^ do u mean the deal for the MTP copper? there was nothing on the golds as far as i know of.

@joker: I tend to not be able to keep that many iem's and still be able to use them consistently. If I had around 5 max I could probably use them all but something near what you have I would only be able to use a couple and the rest would sit there collecting dust. I'm sure I'll have a bit closer to your amount in the next couple weeks but that's about as close as I plan to get.

"Current Price: $194.99 from Buy.com (MSRP: $299.95) "

mentioned for the pro gold review.

Ah, right you are. It seems that buy.com has raised the price to $220. I will change that with the next revision. Bummer.

argh, tied between MTPG , VB and atrios man. i am a basshead who dislike harshness in the higher frequency spectrum. The MTPG looks promising but it has too many mix reviews all over head fi no chance to demo it man....Could you give the atrio a rough score so i can have a picture of where it stands among all your 48 IEMs? Thanks alot
