i would love some advice on a good pair of cans for my budget and specifically the genre of music that i listen too. I Currently have a pair of Grado 325i's recabled with a 10' Black Dragon cable. I really love them. That being said i've only owned triple.fi pros previously. My headphone knowledge and experience is limited. i've had the opportunity to listen and try out some other models. (k701s,k501s,dt880/990,HD600s/650s) I loved them all and didnt have enough time with them to distinguish one i liked most.

So the type of music i listen to most is hip-hop. Not todays stuff you hear on the radio but a lot of Dr. Dre,Eminem,EPMD,Jay-Z,Notorious B.I.G, NaS, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Big L, Gangstarr, Outkast.

Anyways i wanted to hear some opinions on if i made the right decision with the 325is or are there some cans i might enjoy more with this type of music.

I currently have them up for sale on this forum but am having second thoughts on letting them go..

You'll want closed headphones to do bass big.

What's your budget for buying headphones?

What sound card or other equipment will you be plugging these headphones into?

budget is under $400... they'll be plugged into a Tomahawk or go-vibe petite.

OK, what sound card or source will you be using in front of one of these amps?

FWIR...

The SR325i would not be a likely choice for that kind of music (about the last headphones that I would choose), which is not to suggest that some could not enjoy or prefer it over other headphones. I suggest considering a modded D2000 or higher model Denon, or search "Beyerdynamic".

I've listened to my fair share of that genre / era of music, and the last thing I'd want to do is short myself on its bass.

And so FWIR...

I would not want the K601 or K701, and I also suggest considering the DT150. I'm not sure how well your amps would drive the DT150, but it may be a very good match with that music.

would a dt150 or maybe dt880/250 be a fair trade for my 325i's with the 10' black dragon?

thanks for all of your input/help. i'm just trying to learn what i can. sorry about all the questions. =/
