Best Nick Drake CD Remaster?

Well, I've done a lot of searching on this and I still can't really seem to get a concrete answer on this one.

It seems that the easiest to acquire options right now for Nick Drake masters are as follows:

2003 Remasters @ around ~$30 shipped total
The 2007 3 disc Fruit Tree Box Set ~$45-50 shipped
2009 Japanese remasters ~$57 shipped total
2008 Japanese Fruit Tree Box Set ~$120 shipped total

All I can say is that I've heard the Japanese Fruit Tree version and it's excellent, but my main question is how does it compare to the 2003 remasters? I would rather not spend $120 for 3 discs and a Region 2 DVD, even if it is a Japanese release. $57 for the 2009 Japanese remasters is fine, although I can't really find any comments on the sound quality of this release.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I haven't heard the Japanese remasters. But the sound quality of the '07 boxed set is fine. Obviously, your mileage may vary.

I haven't heard anything other than my 2003 remasters and I love the quality on them. It could be one of those things that "I don't now what I'm missing" with the other releases, but I have no complaints about mine. Also, if you get them on Amazon Marketplace, you would spend less than $30 shipped.

Well, curiosity bit me and I went for the 2009 Japanese reissues. Sound-wise they are basically the same as the others I've listened to, but I was not really expecting any new revelations.

However, perhaps the CDs themselves are something different. The Universal product code for the 'Five Leaves Left' CD is UICY-60082, while the code etched in laser on the underside of the disc is UICY-3037, or the code for the 2000 release. This pre-dates the 2003 remaster, but the booklet indicates that this is the same remaster as the 2003 issue. The other two discs are the same as this one.

Yes I doubt it really means anything, but I found it interesting nevertheless.
