What MP3 player is a good match for my Grado SR60?

Thread Starter
I have been using my excellent Grado SR60 for two years now with my portable Sony Discman (a portable CD player). I am very happy with its sound. Sometimes I am lazy in switching one by one the CD Discs. I want a player with most of my favorite songs packed in one hard drive. I have heard FLAC files. The FLAC files from my computer sounds just like my music in my Discman. So I wanna try an MP3 player. I have researched that Sansa Clip+ has FLAC playability.

Will my Grado SR60 sound as good as my Discman with the new Sansa Clip+?

Or, what other MP3 player do you recommend with the Grado SR60?

Kindly share your experiences. Thank you.

what's your budget? The Clip+, Fuze are great options.

The Grados are very easy to drive so I will say most MP3 players will be suffecient to drive them.

I second the Fuze, even more so with a nice head-amp.

To me, this is a no brainer...the AMP3. FLAC and WAV support and much better sound than the Fuze/Clip (I own all 3). tstarn06 has used the AMP3 with Grado 80's and absolutely loves the combination.

The AMP3 is not a perfect player as far as the front end goes (but there are firmware updates in the works to my understanding), but if you are used to a CD player, the front end should be more than sufficient. Check out this thread.

The sound just can't be beat by the Fuze/Clip IMO.

I have also used my Grado SR-60 with my Panasonic CDP for quite a while before I started listening to FLAC files using my Cowon D2 player. Sound quality is surprisingly even better than when using my CDP. Just go with the Cowon D2 (the D2+ now) and you will never regret your decision. It plays FLAC files perfectly.

Me too. I have a Cowon D2+. All my music is encoded in FLAC. The sound quality is crystal clear perfect.
