Best IEM under 150? SA6?

Well I just thought I'd post this before I pull the trigger. I'm still waiting to hear back from SA6 if amazon.com is an authorized dealer ( amazon themselves, not z-electric, I checked). I've looked around and people like the RE0 but they remind me of v-moda vibes or w/e. I found them to be a bit too bassy/muddled for my tastes so a design that mimics them is pretty unappealing.

For reference I listen to electronic music that does have some bass but it isn't the classic "UNCE UNCE UNCE" music. I also enjoy rock, a bit of heavy metal ( no screamo ), and classical. I heard the SA6 may be deficient in the bass department but apparently using the bass port + ameliorates the issue. I'm not looking for oodles of bass but it definitely needs to be there.

A huge reason why I am looking at the SA6 is because it has a removable cord. This is almost a must as far as I am concerned. I've had a pair of headphones broken just because the flimsy cord breaks and that is the worst feeling in the world. When my audio technica cord broke I was back in action in a day.

If you know of an IEM that has superior sound quality for under 150 (SA6 = 140 on Amazon) I'd love to hear your thoughts. If it doesn't have a removable cord it better be darn durable and have noticeably better SQ. Thanks!

"bassy/muddled" are two words that NO ONE has ever used to describe the RE0...

RE0 has some superior audio quality.

Similar design does not equal similar sound!

It just means they use the same casing.

The RE0 is far, far superior to the V-Moda Vibes. They're not even on the same planet, let alone the same class.

I was saying that the v-moda vibes or w/e had too much bass and were muddled. I have not listened to the RE0. I was simply saying that the design that these two earbuds share has caused me to not like the design of the RE0. Does anyone have other suggestions?
EDIT: I am aware that it is irrational but I never liked the design of the V-moda vibes and my hatred for them is going to carry over to the RE0. To clarify: I never liked the v-moda design in the first place and because the v-moda vibes don't sound good it looks worse. The fact that the RE0 copy the V-moda vibes makes me feel weird, like I'm using some sort of iphone fake.
What about the ER-4P? They are 168 on amazon. Granted that is a bit over 150 but it might be worth considering if they offer a significant improvement over the SA6.

So wait. You're going primarily on design and not sound quality? Because under $150, the RE0 has the best sound quality. Well, other than the Fischer Audio Eterna's, but you can't buy those yet.

I already have a couple of headphones that I use for listening in addition to a 2500 dollar speaker set. I have those for quality listening. I am not basing my decision purely on aesthetics but they certainly do play a factor as I am going to be using these outside. Mostly it is my particular dislike for the v-moda design etc. that is making me specifically dislike the RE0.
EDIT: and the RE0 does not have replaceable cables.

So you're completely basing it on aesthetics without even giving audio quality it a chance. It sounds like you came here wanting the SA6, and nothing anyone says is going to stop you from getting what you already wanted.

You know, Skullcandy headphones look pretty cool. And their design is good too.

Phonak Audeo PFE?

Good thing no one bothered to answer my question: "How does the ER4P or ER4S compare to the SA6?" Thanks Kirtar, I'll look into the Phonak Audeo PFE, they seem like they could be a competitor. What is with you guys and assuming that if someone thinks the headphones look weird they must not care at all about sound quality?

Look the AD700 headphones I have are nice but they look absurd so I am not going to wear them in public. I say that aesthetics are a factor AMONG MANY OTHER FACTORS and you immediately assume all I care about is looks. I don't give out points for looking nice, I only disqualify certain ( very few ) earphones for not being appealing visually ( and if they are worth it I'll buy them and use them in private.)

Note that the RE0 also does not have removable cords so if they broke I'd be out of luck. This is another huge strike against them.

TLDR: Aesthetics only apply to public earphones. I only disqualify a few earphones based on looks, I just have a bare minimum that they need to meet. I'm looking for suggestions not insults. RE0 also have a hardwired cord which = fail imo.

You have an RE0 that you would be interested in trading for a PFE? If so, send me a PM. I've been considering such a trade.

Sorry Scott549 I don't have an RE0.

As far as I know, very few IEMs have a removable cord, especially those under $150, so if that's a big factor for you I'd go with the SA6. Otherwise, the Phonaks are a fine choice, but from what I've heard, you'd really be missing out by passing on the RE0s.
